meet the original radical

Hello!

Hi, I’m Megan — professional speech nerd, recovering perfectionist, and the human behind Radical Language.

I’ve been an SLP for 10 years, which is a fancy way of saying I’ve spent way too much time arguing with toddlers about whether “ball” is a noun or a lifestyle. I’ve worked in schools, hospitals, outpatient clinics, and even a few very dramatic NICUs. I’ve cried in supply closets, celebrated first words, and once accidentally taught a 4-year-old to say “dude” instead of “yes.” (Worth it.)

Early in my career, I felt overwhelmed, under-supported, and burned out. The caseloads were heavy, the support was minimal, and I spent too many nights wondering if this was really the career for me. That experience hit hard — and it became the reason I decided to do something about it.

In 2022 I did the scary thing: I left my comfy district job, named my company something slightly ridiculous (Radical Language — because “therapy” sounded too clinical and “speech stuff” sounded like a podcast), and built the exact kind of supportive home base I wish I’d had when I was starting out.

What you’ll actually get from me:

  • Real talk, no corporate jargon

  • Check-ins that feel like texting your big sister

  • Contracts that don’t suck (higher take-home pay, actual supervision, zero ghosting)

  • The freedom to pick school, medical, bilingual, or “let’s go travel and see the country”

Fun facts about me (because personality > polish):

  • I own more houseplants than is reasonable for a human

  • My spirit animal is a husky who’s had three espressos

  • Red light glasses are my buddy

My goal is simple: help SLPs find placements where they feel valued, supported, and excited to show up every day — so they can actually enjoy the meaningful work they do instead of just surviving it.
